About Hummus with Habibti
Introducing an American Girl who was raised in the Arabian Gulf.
I grew up in Bahrain for 17 years, after college I’ve lived in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Due to growing up in the Middle East, I have seen some beautiful sides that people have never seen. I have loved my life in the gulf. This blog is my love letter to the Middle East. Sharing my opinions, my favorite places, and hopefully showing you a side of the Middle East you’ve never seen before.
Hummus with Habibti was born because I am really opinionated about good hummus. It needs to have some tahini, some olive oil, garlic, cumin, chickpeas, and lemon. However, it needs to be smooth and not grainy, thick but not liquidy. All that to say my husband always laughed at my opinions and then we dreamt of starting this blog to do just that.
I have spent the last 22 years of my life in the Middle East/Arabian Gulf and I hope I can share with you a glimpse of what I love through this blog.
Welcome to my blog, a vibrant space dedicated to sharing the wonders of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region through the lens of a lifelong resident who cherishes this unique corner of the world. As a woman immersed in the Gulf’s culture and its beauty, I aim to offer insights and experiences catering to Westerners, expatriates in the Gulf, English speakers, and curious travelers. This platform is a tapestry woven from my adventures, opinions, and cherished moments, born from a life filled with exploration and a passion for this region. Alongside my husband, we’ve embarked on incredible journeys, explored diverse landscapes, savored delectable cuisines, and unearthed hidden gems. Here, I eagerly share these discoveries—places, flavors, and insights—that have enchanted me. It is my pleasure to share these with friends and fellow adventures. Consider this blog a love letter—a heartfelt invitation to join me in celebrating the richness of Saudi Arabia, a repository of recommendations and cherished experiences. My aspiration is simple: to inspire and guide you on your own adventure, illuminating the splendor and joy this extraordinary region has to offer. May this blog serve as your compass, guiding you to uncover the beauty and essence of Saudi Arabia. Join me as we embark on this exploration together!
Chickpea Rating System
In the spirit of adding a touch of our own flavor to the typical rating scales, we’ve chosen the humble chickpea as our unit of measurement. Why chickpeas, you ask? Well, they’re versatile, delightful, and a staple in many cuisines—a bit like the experiences and foods we’ll be reviewing! I am also a bit of a hummus addict…

A fair rating—there’s potential, but there’s room for improvement. It’s like a dish that’s good but could use an extra dash of seasoning or an adventure that was enjoyable but missing that wow factor.

Excellent! We’re talking about experiences or foods that truly stand out—a cut above the rest. These are the gems, the remarkable moments, or dishes that linger in your memory long after they’re over.
5 out of 5 chickpeas
The crème de la crème! This top rating is reserved for those rare, extraordinary experiences or foods that transcend expectations, leaving an indelible mark. They’re the creamiest hummus, the most breathtaking vistas, or the most unforgettable adventures.
